Pete,

I just ran across your blog. What a great story, I can't think of a better way to have spent your 30th birthday.
Happy belated birthday from one July 8th to another.

Have a creative day!

AWESOME!!! Oh Pete, I am SOOO glad it worked out for you on your B'day and Happy, happy belated to you my good friend from both of us. Jen was saying how worried she was that you were going so fast she couldn't catch up to you, trying to get Patch to slow you up, which we all know is an impossible feat. Wow, four hours out of Colorado Springs... you guys are flying. Just be sure to smell all the roses, my friend. Cathy and I are in Maine for a much deserved break. Retracing the miles that I took on my first big bike ride many years ago. Wish I was riding now. Would have loved to been a fly on your handlebar when you got to Missouri when you turned to Patch to say "Toto, I don't think we're in Kansas anymore!" Knew that would be a killer with the flat and headwinds and also knew you would power through it nicely. Carry on guys!

Pete,

I love reading your blog...and this last entry was fantastic. That memory of your 30th birthday will always be with you!

Jenn, you are AMAZING!

It looks like your bike route will take you through Cleveland, OH. My father-in-law--a truly great man--just passed away, and we were in Cleveland this week for the funeral. It was a perfect celebration for his passing--lots of food and family and community--the Greeks know how to do it right. Maybe while you pass through (or near) the city you can send some good vibes in the family's direction...

I will continue to follow your trip and I wish you wonderful experiences along your way. I can't wait to hear all about it when you return.

Vaya con Dios,

Karen

Hey Pete,

Happy belated 30th birthday Pete! Your travels brings back all kinds of memories...

First of all, did you know that we lived in Westcliffe, CO for 10 Years! Bryce went to kindergarten in Westcliffe and Mallory was 5 months old when we moved from there back east. If I had known, I could have set you up with some great folks to stay with!

Your biking memoirs remind me of my cross country bike trip almost 30 years ago! (I'll have to see if I can find the slides from my trip which Mallory, Bryce nor Todd have never seen). I kept a daily journal in a notebook which was lost many years ago when it was circulating amongst family, so be sure to hang onto yours which I guess is much easier to do in this computer era. Did you go over Wolf Creek Pass? Thirty years ago there were no guard rails and big ol' Winnnebagos, yikes!

It looks like you're having a fantastic trip. Even though it was 29 years ago, I remember Kansas with the head winds and thorns causing numerous flat tires, so what an absolute booster to have Jenn meet up with you for your birthday! Keep on peddling and we'll see back in Hartland...

Toodles and Take Care,

I'm crying. What a story. I was hurting for you feeling so down on your 30th birthday. Or maybe just because I can't imagine you down. What a happy ending. Jenn(ifer) is one special lady. LBJ
